El
Salvador may
be smaller than its neighbors in Central America, but this just means its
multiple attractions are more concentrated and easier to enjoy. This allows
you to sample the charms of this colorful land of volcanoes, beaches and
jungles in a short period of time. Mayan ruins await both inside and outside
of its cities and its museums offer even more examples of this rich pre-Colombian
heritage. But El Salvador isn’t just a window in the past. Nestled
in a valley at the base of San Salvador volcano, the capital San Salvador
is a modern metropolis with excellent restaurants, a vibrant nightlife and
many cultural attractions. The same way good perfume comes in small bottles,
a wonderful vacation comes in this diminutive but charming country, where
you can find a little bit of everything. From up scale shopping in the ritzier
district of Colonia Escalon, to the Zona Rosa district for exclusive nightlife
and restaurants. El Salvador is located in Central America, bordered on the north and west by Guatemala, to the north and east by Honduras and on the south and west by the Pacific Ocean. Its tropical climate has a rainy season extending from May to October. There are actually three climate zones which vary according to altitude. Tips
